Chickasaw County Democrats, Republicans Hosting Campaign Events This Week
Democrats and Republicans in Chickasaw County are gearing up for campaign events this week.
Chickasaw County Democrats will gather for a “Meet the Candidates” event Tuesday (08.20) evening starting at 5:30 pm in the Chickasaw Event Center in New Hampton. Slated to appear are Board of Supervisor candidate Joan Knoll and incumbent Supervisor Steve Breitbach, plus House District 58 State Representative candidate Gail Allison of Ionia.
Breitbach is currently unopposed in his reelection bid for the District 1 Supervisor seat, while Knoll is challenging Republican incumbent Jacob Hackman for the Third District Supervisor seat. Allison is looking to unseat Republican incumbent Charley Thomson of Charles City.
The Chickasaw County Republican Party will host a 2024 Election Kickoff and Fundraising event Thursday (08.22) night at The Pub at the Pinicon in New Hampton. Social hour begins at 5:30 pm, with a program at 7 pm.
Scheduled to appear is Pat Grassley, Speaker of the Iowa House, Thomson, District 29 State Senator Sandy Salmon, Hackman, and Sheriff Ryan Shawver, who is unopposed in his bid to win his first official election to the sheriff’s post. Shawver was appointed sheriff in January 2023 after then-Sheriff Marty Hemann announced his retirement.
Tickets for the fundraiser, with House District 43 State Representative Eddie Andrews as master of ceremonies, are $75 and can be purchased at the door.
