New Hampton Households to Pay Increased Garbage Rate

New Hampton residents will have to take on the latest increase in the price for garbage collection themselves.

During Monday (08.19) night’s City Council meeting, City officials discussed how to pay for a garbage rate increase by LJP (Jendro) Sanitation.

In recent years, the City has “absorbed” the cost into the Solid Waste Fund.

Mayor Steve Geerts says the City can’t afford to do that with the latest price increase, which would amount to almost $7,700 total over the course of a year.

The garbage rate increase in New Hampton of about 46-cents per household per month will take effect October 1st.
