Floyd, Chickasaw Among Counties Abnormally Dry

The latest U.S. Drought Monitor Map for Iowa is basically unchanged from the week prior, but areas of abnormally dry conditions persist across several counties in northeast Iowa.

Based on precipitation through 7 am Tuesday, September 3, all of Floyd, Chickasaw, Butler, Bremer, Fayette and Clayton counties were rated in the D0 category for being abnormally dry. Much of Winneshiek County and two-thirds of Allamakee County were also rated abnormally dry.

Small southern sections in Mitchell and Howard counties, plus northern sections of Black Hawk and Buchanan counties are also considered abnormally dry.

In north central Iowa, all of Cerro Gordo and Franklin counties are also abnormally dry.
