One Charles City-Area Bridge Reopened, Another 3-4 Weeks Away
Just over five months after the project began, the Iowa Highway 14 bridge replacement project, about 10 miles southwest of Charles City, has been completed.
The Iowa DOT closed the bridge over Flood Creek, between Floyd County roads B-45 and B-60 near Roseville, in early April, with work initially expected to continue in October. Pete Hjelmstad with the DOT’s Mason City construction office says the roadway was reopened to traffic Friday (09.13) afternoon.
Hjelmstad adds that construction crews still have some seeding and erosion control measures to wrap up, which may also require an occasional shoulder closure, but that isn’t expected to impact traffic crossing the bridge.
Meanwhile, Hjelmstad says another Charles City-area bridge replacement project is still about a month away from being finished. He says the Iowa Highway 18 bridge, being built near the Ionia turnoff in Chickasaw County, is three to four weeks away from opening back up to traffic.
