New Hampton In Final Month’s Push to Complete Water Service Line Surveys
The City of New Hampton Public Works Department is heading down the homestretch to meet a federally-mandated deadline to update its records for residential and commercial water service lines throughout town.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently revised the Lead-Copper rule and is requiring citywide inventories to be completed for lead service lines by October 16th, 2024. New Hampton Mayor Steve Geerts says many surveys remain unfinished.
A water service line is the connection between the water distribution pipe (water main in the street or right-of-way) and the water meter in your home or business. If lead service lines are discovered, you may be eligible to receive funding to have those lines replaced.
Regardless of the age of the structure, New Hampton home and business owners are asked to submit a water service line survey for each property they own. Failure to submit suveys, may result in City staff having to enter your structure at a later date to verify.
