Veronica R. Koenigs, 82, Stacyville

Veronica R. Koenigs, 82, of Stacyville, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Society in St. Ansgar.

A funeral Mass for Veronica Koenigs will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with Reverend Raymond Burkle officiating. Burial will be at the Visitation Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service at the church on Saturday.

Veronica Rose Koenigs, the daughter of Ernest and Clara (Thome) Adams, was born on July 11, 1942 in Stacyville, Iowa. She received her education in Stacyville, graduating from Stacyville High School in 1960. Veronica then attended college in the Twin Cities for a short time before working as a secretary for an attorney.

Veronica was united in marriage to Kenneth “Kenny” Koenigs on June 8, 1968 at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. This union was blessed with four sons: Brian, Craig, Kevin and Scott. They lived in Minnesota Lake, Minnesota for a few years where Kenny and Veronica owned and operated an upholstery business. They moved to Stacyville in 1974 and onto their family farm in 1976.

Veronica worked at Louise’s Lounge, Gerk’s Café, the Stacyville Bowling Alley and the Stacyville Motor-Mart throughout her working career. She was a wonderful cook (both at home and work), bartender, waitress and clerk who had a great rapport with all of her customers. Her big heart was always fullest when she could babysit her grandchildren or just spend time with her family.

Veronica was a member of Visitation Catholic Church and Foresters Club. She enjoyed traveling (especially to Branson), going to the casino and again, babysitting her grandchildren. She never really got mad (at least at her grandchildren) and always had a smile on her face.

Living family members include her three sons: Brian of Stacyville, Craig of Riceville and Scott of St. Ansgar; 13 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; along with other family members and many friends.

Veronica was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenny; son, Kevin; and five siblings: Eugene Adams, Walt Adams, Theresa Mauer, Louise Walk and Ted Adams.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
