Charles City Chamber Hosts Candidate Meet & Greet Wednesday (10.23) Night

The public is invited to visit with candidates on the November 5th ballot to represent Charles City and Floyd County during a Candidate Meet & Greet event hosted by the Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce.

The come-and-go event from 6 to 7:30 pm on Wednesday (10.23) will take place at the Zastrow Room of the Charles City Public Library. While mainly an opportunity to meet 1-on-1 with the candidates, each of them will be given a few minutes to address the room starting around 6:30 p.m. This event is free and open to all to attend.

Community Development Director Mark Wicks says, “We encourage people to take a few minutes to meet and hear from the people they are being asked to vote on. Find out where they stand on the issues and share your own input with them.”

Among the contested races impacting Floyd County, Democrat Liz Hamm and Republican Morrigan Miller are running to replace retiring Floyd County Auditor Gloria Carr, who herself is running unopposed for the District 1 Supervisor seat. Democrat Gail Allison is challenging incumbent Republican Charley Thomson for the Iowa House District 58 seat.

Other uncontested candidates invited to participate include District 3 Supervisor candidate Boyd Campbell, incumbent Sheriff Jeff Crooks, Todd Prichard for County Attorney, and incumbent State Representative Jane Bloomingdale for Iowa House District 60.

There will also be information available on the upcoming Floyd County EMS tax levy vote.
