Iowa House District 58 Candidates Identify Issues, Reasons for Your Vote

Voters in the race for the District 58 seat in the Iowa House of representatives are deciding between incumbent Republican Charley Thomson and Democratic challenger Gail Allison.
Both candidates have expressed concerns over the restructuring of Area Education Agencies (AEA), with Thomson also looking to return Iowa to preeminent education status.
Allison’s own background comes from over 30 years in education, which she says has helped her become a good listener.
Allison says her priorities also include the lack of mental health facilities and rural hospitals hanging on by a thread.
Thomson says he “got his sea legs” under him during his first term in the Iowa House and looks to continue to build off the experience.
House District 58 includes all of Chickasaw County and most of Floyd County, with the exception of Rockford and Rock Grove township in the northwest corner of the county which is part of House District 60.
