No Humans Injured in Pair of Northeast Iowa COW-Lisions

There were no human injuries reported in a pair of separate Northeast Iowa COW-lisions early Tuesday (11.12).

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) said two different cows were hit by two different vehicles near the 29000 block of Lincoln Road, just north of Eldorado, at around 12:30 am Tuesday morning.

A FCSO deputy determined 54-year-old Lonnie Lindenbaum of West Union was driving a Jeep Compass was southbound on Lincoln (Highway 150) when he hit the first cow.

A shortly thereafter, a truck driven by 27-year-old Nicholas Bucheit of Fort Atkinson, reported to be passing by the first accident, then hit another cow that was also on the roadway.

The collisions caused an estimated $35,000 in damages.

No injuries to the drivers were reported, but no word on whether the cows survived or perished after being struck.

The owner of the cows, Ray Steffens of West Union, was notified of the loose cattle.

The incident remains under investigation.
