Stakeholder Input Sought in New Hampton/Turkey Valley Superintendent Search

The search is on to find a successor to New Hampton/Turkey Valley shared Superintendent Jay Jurrens, who has announced he will retire at the end of the 2024-25 school year.
Last week, School Boards for the two districts voted to contract with Grundmeyer Leader Services to assist with recruiting applicants to replace Jurrens. New Hampton School President Jay Matthews says officials are also seeking valuable input from community members with an online survey.
Matthews says a link to the surveys, open through the end of November, is available through each school district’s Facebook pages and websites. There’s also an opportunity for stakeholders to have additional say in the superintendent hiring.
Matthews says superintendent applications will be accepted through January 5th, with candidate screenings starting January 20th, formal interviews starting February 6th, and a final decision shortly thereafter.
Jurrens has been the shared superintendent with the Turkey Valley School District the past eight years and New Hampton Superintendent a total of 13 years.
Jurrens said it’s time for him to step down and enjoy a new chapter in his life. He also wanted to announce his intentions in September to give the two school districts adequate time to find his replacement.
