Construction of Charles City All-Inclusive Playground Resumes

It’s uncertain when the all-inclusive playground at Sportsmen’s Park in Charles City will be ready for kids to play on, but one thing’s for certain, construction has resumed, even here in winter.
In late October, Charles City officials were forced to hit the “reset button” on the project after it was discovered the contractor, Play Pro Recreation, dug the hole too deep for the playground equipment. The decision was made to remove the playground equipment altogether and prepare the site again for re-installation.
The site has been readied and Park-Rec Director Tyler Mitchell says crews have been erecting the playground equipment.
Mitchell says the contractor has a long history of working through cold weather conditions.
Once complete, the quarter-million dollar inclusive playground will be accessible to kids of varying physical capabilities and/or disabilities.
