New Hampton Could Bond Over $12 Million for Infrastructure, Fire Trucks

The City of New Hampton has a long “wish list” of items that need addressing, from street improvements to swimming pool repairs. They also need the money to get those projects done.

New Hampton Mayor Steve Geerts says the City Council on January 6th voted for bonding to finance the items. Though the total cost is unknown, Geerts says the time has come to move forward.

That $12.5 million would include the purchase of two fire trucks, but at a cost around $1.2 for those vehicles, that may be too pricey. Though, Geerts notes that could be the case with other items the City looks to tackle.

On top of those projects, the City is also working to set aside money towards construction of a new wastewater treatment plant, which the DNR says must be in operation by the year 2036. The City hopes to have it operational by 2029, at a cost of about $33 million.
