Law Enforcement Pursuit Ends in Howard County, Suspect Still At Large
Authorities in Northeast Iowa are still searching for a suspect who caused local residents to shelter-in-place order for about 10 hours.
At about 8 pm Saturday (01.25) night, the Howard County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) issued the shelter-in-place order through social media for citizens in the Lime Springs area, where a law enforcement pursuit had ended and a subject was still at large. Residents were asked to lock their doors and call for help in the event of an emergency while authorities searched for the suspect.
Shortly after 10:30 pm Saturday night, an HCSO update continued to urge citizens to shelter-in-place. Around 6:30 am Sunday (01.26) morning, HCSO said the order had been lifted, but that they still had not located the suspect, described black man in his late teens or early 20s, about 5’6” tall, weighing around 140 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes.
They also encouraged Lime Springs residents to check if they have any property missing in the next day or two and review any security video they may have.
An HCSO update around 10 am Sunday morning said the individual in question stole a vehicle and left the area. There is no longer a threat to public safety.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the Howard County Sheriff’s Office.
We will bring you more information as it becomes official.
