Addressing Charles City’s housing shortage continues to be a slow process, but strides forward are being made.
City Administrator Steve Diers says construction of apartments by Commonwealth Development Corporation could begin this spring.
Diers says they’re also getting closer to housing development by Kading Properties of Des Moines, possibly in the same area.
And renovations of the former Charles City Middle School by developer Shawn Foutch also recently got a boost to move that project forward.
Diers also notes that the City has received interest from at least three other developers to possibly build in Charles City.
