Floyd County Hires Interim and Fulltime Engineer in Miller

Floyd County has found its interim and permanent county engineer with the hiring of one person.

During their regular meeting Monday (01.27), Supervisors weighed options to replace former County Engineer Jacob Page, who resigned January 10th. The County had explored sharing Cerro Gordo County Engineer Brandon Billings, at least on an interim basis.

Still, Supervisor Dennis Keifer sided with hiring Page’s full-time replacement.

Supervisor Boyd Campbell echoed the benefits of the County hiring its own engineer.

Supervisor Gloria Carr said any arrangement with Cerro Gordo County to share Billings’ services would require a minimum one-year contract, which Carr said Billings estimated had an “80% interest” among his county supervisors.

Carr also noted that getting the position squared away is vital to allowing the County to move forward with bid letting for projects, some already delayed by Page’s departure.

Supervisors voted unanimously to hire Adam Miller as interim County Engineer for $1,000 a week starting February 3rd and to become the permanent leader of the County’s Secondary Roads Department March 3rd at a salary of $130,000 plus benefits.

A native of Greene, Miller has been an engineer with Kossuth County for the past 17 years.  He says been a professional engineer for 12 years, including engineering some 30 projects built.
