Interest in Open New Hampton School Board Vacancy Accepted Until Friday (02.07)

At least a half-dozen people have come forward to possibly fill an open seat on the New Hampton School Board.
The District 2 seat on the School Board opened up last month with the resignation of Bob Ayers, who was in his first term on the Board following his election in 2021. His resignation became effective immediately.
The current four members of the New Hampton School Board seek to appoint a replacement to fill the vacancy on or before February 13th. Anyone interested in the post must reside within the boundaries of Director District 2, which is within the city limits of New Hampton.
That appointee will remain on the board until the next regular school board election, scheduled for November 4, 2025. At that time, the public will elect a board member for the next four-year term.
Interested parties are encouraged to respond to a brief survey to be reviewed by the current Board of Education members as a tool to assist with this important decision. Submission deadline is this Friday (02.07).
A link to the survey is available at New Hampton Community Schools on Facebook and with this story below.
School district business manager Christy Roethler says, as of Monday (02.03) morning, seven individuals have expressed interest in the open seat. She adds that the School Board is expected to meet in special session next Monday (02.10) night to appoint Ayers replacement.
