Battle of the Service Clubs Set for 2025 Great Chili Cook-Off Friday (02.28)

Main Street Charles City invites you to warm up your tummy and your community spirit, as well as help pick the winner of the 27th Annual Great Chili Cook-Off in Charles City.
The Chili Cook-Off this Friday (02.28) will feature a variety of chili recipes with the coveted “Golden Ladle Award” at stake. Each year a different theme and collection of local celebrity chili cooks is assembled, with the 2025 edition being the “Battle of the Service Clubs.”
This year’s featured cooks and the service groups include: Victoria Mead from C.A.Y.A Transition Home for Women; Zolton Zorzi for the Charles City Community Fund; Chuck Meyer from the Charles City Lion’s Club; Ann Troge from Charles City Rotary; Kip Hauser for the Community Center; Sally Vowell from Elks Lodge; Jennifer Lantz representing Foster Grandparents; and Mike Thome for Charles City Knights of Columbus.
The public is invited to come and sample each of the eight batches of chili and vote for their favorite, as well as enjoy dessert prepared by the Family and Consumer Sciences classes and FCCLA students at Charles City Middle and High Schools. Beverages will also be provided.
While supplies last, tickets are $10 per person and available in advance at the Main Street Charles City Office or at the door the day of the event at the Columbus Club, with serving and voting from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday.
