County Social Services for Floyd, Chickasaw Counties, Others to “Sunset” June 30th

A Northeast Iowa-based provider of mental health and disability services for over 15 years will cease operations in four months.

In a Facebook post Wednesday (02.26), County Social Services (CSS) informed clients that, unfortunately, because the State of Iowa is restructuring behavioral health and disability services, CSS has not been awarded a contract and will be sunsetting June 30, 2025.

Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors chair Jacob Hackman also serves as chair of the CSS Board.

Hackman made his comments during a Supervisors budget session on Thursday (02.27).

The CSS social media post also indicates that “we will continue to work hard and do our best to help transition our clients during this time.”

According to www.countysocialservices.org, CSS began service on January 1, 2009, when five counties came together to further advance the vision of creating a more equitable service system, while retaining the principle of local control. Since that time, CSS is now a consortium of 12 counties:  Allamakee, Black Hawk, Butler, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Floyd, Grundy, Howard, Mitchell, Tama, and Winneshiek.
