NWS to Host Storm Spotter Training Wednesday (04.02) Night in Elma

“Weather permitting,” the National Weather Service (NWS) of La Crosse will host a Storm Spotter Training session Wednesday (04.02) night in Howard County.
That’s NWS Warning Coordination Meteorologist Mike Kurz, who says spotters play an important role of “filling in” storm details that can’t be detected by radar and other weather technology.
Kurz says once spotters are up and running, they can make their own choices where to position themselves to help report storm conditions.
Wednesday night’s free NWS Storm Spotter Training starts at 6:30 pm at Memorial Hall in Elma.
Kurz says attending the session does not commit you to becoming a storm spotter and is open to anyone interested in weather, regardless of age.
