Former Oliver/White Farm Employees Crowd Charles City Restaurant for Reunion

At its height of operation, the Oliver/White Farm tractor plant in Charles City sprawled across 23 acres and employed almost 3,000 people.
The plant closed in 1993. On Tuesday (04.01), scores of former employees gathered for an informal re-union at Dave’s Restaurant in Charles City.
Dave Simon says he performed multiple duties while working at the plant from 1959 until it shut down.
Simon, now 84, says it’s special getting together with other former employees.
A sentiment shared by Stan Litterer, another former employee.
Litterer worked at Oliver/White Farm from 1960 until it closed 33 years later.
Last year’s re-union was the first of its kind since the plant closed 32 years ago, but organizer Dick Neal said the response was so great, they did it again this year.
