In today’s Community Conversations, we sat down with Denny Hull and Patrick Lumley from Charles City VFW Post #3914 to discuss an exciting initiative: a city-wide clothing drive aimed at supporting veterans and residents in need. Partnering with the City of Charles City’s “Spring Clean Up,” the VFW is rallying volunteers, businesses, and organizations to collect, sort, and distribute gently used clothing. Tune in to hear how you can get involved, from donating items to attending the organizational meeting on April 17, 2025, at 6 PM. Check out the flyer and listen to the interview below to learn more about this heartfelt effort to give back!

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
