A Northeast Iowa man’s $50,000 Iowa Lottery prize will pay for a home improvement project one member of the family in particular will really enjoy.
33-year-old Brett Sersland of Decorah is the first person to win a $50,000 top prize in the “Joker’s Wild” scratch game after buying his winning ticket at Kwik Star in Waukon. He claimed his prize Friday (04.11) at the lottery’s regional office in Cedar Rapids.
Sersland says a new fence in his backyard will allow his dog, Reese, to “run around and be more free.” Sersland adds he’s also looking forward to fixing up his car thanks to his big win.
Meanwhile, as of noon Wednesday (04.16), the Iowa Lottery was still looking for the winner of almost $10,000 in Charles City. A Facebook post last Thursday (04.10) said “somebody just won a prize of $9,427.55! They bought a Fat Wallet Progressive InstaPlay ticket at Casey’s at 4th & Grand. Was it you?! Check your ticket!”
In other winning notes last week, the Iowa Lottery posted “Somebody bought a Hot Ticket Progressive InstaPlay ticket at Kwik Star in Lansing, and won a prize of $32,047!”
An update early Friday (04.11) identified the winner as Mary Sand of Lansing.
On Tuesday (04.15), the Lottery posted someone had won a $5,000 prize in Monday’s Luck-for-Life promotion after purchasing a winning ticket at Quick Shop Liquor & Vape in Clear Lake.
Wednesday (04.16), Roby Janssen of Clear Lake claimed his prize.
