Dozen North Iowa Projects Awarded RFIP Grants

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig has announced the Iowa Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Program (RFIP) Board’s recent approval of 114 project applications from Iowa gas stations, totaling more than $2.88 million, for new and expanded ethanol and biodiesel infrastructure projects.

That includes almost a dozen projects across north and northeast Iowa totaling almost a quarter-of-a-million dollars, part of a new quarterly record for the number of investments in biofuels projects in the state.

Naig says these investments help drivers save more money by providing expanded access to lower cost and cleaner burning homegrown biofuels. The grants were awarded by the RFIP Board during its quarterly meeting at the end of March.

Ethanol fueling infrastructure grants of $75,000 each have been awarded to Kwik Star in Osage and Engen Express in Ridgeway, with almost $65,000 going to Sid’s Quick Stop in Forest City. Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh convenience stores in Cresco and Charles City will get grants of about $10,000 and $3,000 respectively.

Casey’s General Stores in Ossian, West Union, Monona, and Clermont will each receive ethanol grants ranging from from about $4,800 to $6,600.
