Mason City Police Seek Public Help in Shooting Investigation

The Mason City Police Department (MCPD) is asking for the public’s help as they investigate a shooting at East Park.
Chief Jeff Brinkley says officers were called to the park shortly after 9 pm Thursday (04.24) night after a caller reported a fight and possible shots fired. At the scene, near Prairie Playground, officers found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds.
The Mason City Fire Department transported the unnamed male to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center for treatment, but the victim’s condition is not available at this time.
Brinkley says the suspect fled the scene along with other involved parties and witnesses, with one firearm being recovered. He says the parties involved were known to one another and the incident is part of an ongoing feud.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call the MCPD at 641-421-3636.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
