Charles City VFW Clothing Drive Expands, First Clothing Giveaway Tuesday (04.29)

The Charles City VFW Post #3914 Citywide Clothing Drive to benefit veterans and those in need is underway.

The Post’s Patrick Lumley says they began collecting clothes last week, either by drop off at the VFW or by staff pickup from 3:30 to 6:30 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays. They’re also expanding beyond city limits.

Lumley says the first week yielded some 30 tubs and 16 large garbage bags of clothes, largely in adult sizes.

The initial plan was to collect clothes through the end of May and begin distribution of clothes in June. However, because the response has been so great, Lumley says they’ll start giving out clothes Tuesday (04.29).
