Charles City VFW Clothing Drive Suspends Donations, Encourages Those in Need to Pick Up Free Clothes

Due to overwhelming response, Charles City VFW Post #3914 is suspending donations for its citywide clothing drive.

Coordinator Patrick Lumley says contributions in the first three weeks of the drive have put the Post at full capacity to store the clothing, thus additional donations cannot be accepted at this time. However, veterans and anyone in need of free clothing are encouraged to stop in and get as much as they need.

Dates for pickup of free clothing include from 3:30 to 6:30 pm on Tuesday (05.13) and from 11 am to 7 pm on Thursday (05.15), which will also feature the food truck, Janey’s Heart Attack Shack, on site selling food from start to finish.

Those coming to pick up free clothing are to enter through the VFW’’s eastside door off the lower level parking lot, towards Washington Elementary.

Clothes are available in all sizes, from adults to teens, kids, toddlers, and infants.
