North Iowa Man Dead After Crash on I-35 Involving Four Vehicles

A North Iowa man is dead after a four-vehicle wreck on Interstate 35.

The Iowa State Patrol says the crash occurred shortly after 2:30 pm Tuesday (05.20) afternoon near the 147 mile marker on I-35 in Hamilton County.  68-year-old Reed Peterson of Mason City was northbound when his car crossed the median and hit the rear trailer tires of a semi driven by 37-year-old Serghei Gornostali of Bartlett, Illinois.

After that impact, Peterson’s vehicle was struck by a second semi driven by 29-year-old Funugo Nsanzinfura of Louisville, Kentucky. Another vehicle, driven by 23-year-old Caleb Jacobsen of Dows, was then struck by the second semi, with those two vehicles going into the ditch.

Peterson was pronounced dead at the scene. All the others involved in the collisions were treated and released.
