On a chilly, cloudy Wednesday, JC from Paws Humane Society in Charles City introduced Miller, a vocal, all-black cat with yellow eyes, ready for adoption after his vet visit today. Paws is open Saturday, 11 AM–2 PM, for adoptions or visits, and features a Petfinder tool at pawscharlcity.com to browse pets. Join Paws on Thursday May 22, 2025 at Tellurian Brewing, 5:30–7:00 PM, to meet adoptable animals like Misty. The Dog Jog Glow Edition is June 20 at 8:00 PM, with a 5K or one-mile run/walk to fund vet care. Donations (paper towels, dog treats, xylitol-free peanut butter) are urgently needed.

Visit the PAWS Humane Society on their Facebook Page or check out their website at PAWSCharlesCity.com to learn more about adopting Miller or other pets, volunteering, or supporting their upcoming events!

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
