Charles City Mobile Food Pantry Starts Healthy Kids Food Program Wednesday (06.04)

The Charles City Mobile Food Pantry will distribute more food than usual during their first-Wednesday-on-the-month drive-thru distributions for June, July and August.
Coordinator Jenn Burton says they have been approved for participation in the Healthy Kids Iowa Pilot Program to provide extra food to families with kids ages 4-to-18.
Burton says they have a pretty good idea of how many Charles City Mobile Food Pantry children can benefit from the program.
Families who qualify for the free food, through The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), must be registered with the Charles City Mobile Food Pantry. If you’re not, you can get signed up while waiting in line during distribution Wednesday (06.04) evening from 5 to 6 pm on the Floyd County Fairgrounds, where Burton says their new drive-thru route, implemented last month, was met with positive reviews.
Those coming for food pickup Wednesday are reminded to enter on the west side of fairgrounds off of Packard Avenue and do not come out before 3:30 pm.
If you have any questions or to volunteer, call Jen Burton at 641-220-1769.
The Cresco Mobile Food Pantry was also approved for the Healthy Kids Program, with their first distribution of food Tuesday (06.03) on the Howard County Fairgrounds.
