Charles City Water Department to Go Door-to-Door to Complete Lead, Copper Survey
The Charles City Water Department is set to “hit the streets” to complete a federally mandated update of the City’s Lead and Copper Service Line Inventory.
The Water Department says nearly 1000 properties in Charles City still need to be inventoried in an effort to comply with updated EPA regulations and ensure the safety of the community’s drinking water.
During the week of June 16th through June 20th, water operators will be going door-to-door and may need access to your basement to inspect your water service line.
The City says operators will be in uniform and have a city-issued ID, with visits occurring during regular business hours of 8 am to 3.30 pm. Inspections will only take a few minutes
If you have questions or wish to schedule a specific time for access, please call the Water Department at 641-257-6315.
The City says your cooperation is greatly appreciated in helping keep Charles City’s water system safe and compliant.
