Dennis Arnold Keifer, 73, Charles City

*Obituary submitted by family of Dennis Keifer

In Loving Memory of Dennis Arnold Keifer.  August 12, 1951 June 10, 2025.

With full hearts, we announce the passing of Dennis Arnold Keifer, 73, of Charles City, Iowa, on June 10, 2025.

Born in Charles City on August 12, 1951, to Arnold and Esther (Reiher) Keifer, Dennis grew up on family farms in Butler and Floyd counties. He graduated from Allison-Bristow High School in 1969 and attended North Iowa Area Community College. Dennis worked in crop insurance for most of his career. In retirement, his passion for service led him to run for Floyd County Supervisor in 2022, a role he began in 2023 with a genuine desire to improve his community.

Dennis found several ways to spend his leisure time. He was a dedicated father and grand father to his four children and seven grandchildren who were a constant source of joy and pride in his life. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, an adventurous pilot, enjoyed fishing trips up north with his brother, relaxing horseback rides and enjoyed the open road on his motorcycle or in his 1968 Soft-top Chevy Camaro. With friends he enjoyed sipping coffee in the mornings, playing poker games, and mingling at the boat club.

Dennis is survived by his children: Jennifer of Boise, Eric of Denver, Neal (Casey) of Greene, and Paige (Benjamin) Reetz of Rudd; grandchildren Cora, Ila, Carlin, Archer, Caden, Nash, and Ellie; brothers Alan (Sharon), Kelvin (Valnora), and Greg (Cindy);stepmother Betty; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Katie Fleagle.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. inside the Swartzrock Community Center at the Floyd County Fairgrounds.
