Thomas “Tom” McIntire, 70, of Charles City

Thomas “Tom” McIntire, 70, of Charles City, passed away Friday, June 20, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City with Reverend Tom Heathershaw officiating.  A private burial service will be held on a later date.

Visitation for Tom McIntire will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Monday.

Thomas “Tom” James McIntire (1954-2025) was born November 16, 1954, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He is the third of eleven children born to Jim and Fran McIntire. The family moved to Charles City, Iowa where he attended school at Immaculate Conception. Tom graduated in 1973. As Tom was growing up, his favorite part of school was band class where his passion for music led him to become the lead singer and drummer for numerous local bands. Tom moved to Illinois where he found his love of installing, maintaining, and tuning pipe organs in churches and colleges. He was thrilled to be part of the build for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra pipe organ where he had the privilege of meeting Luciano Pavarotti. In 1991, Tom met the love of his life, Judy.  They married and created a blended family with seven children: Justin McIntire Allison, Iowa, Jillian (Jeffrey) Rogers Cadott, Wisconsin, Donald Woepse Charles City, Iowa, Jamie (Ryan) BruinsSlot Augusta, Wisconsin, Robert Woepse Milton, Florida, Jordan (Stephanie) McIntire Fall Creek, Wisconsin, Linda (Pat) Shirley Charles City, Iowa. In 1993, Tom and Judy relocated their family to a small acreage in Charles City, Iowa where they lived for 30 years, creating memories to last a lifetime and then some. Tom and Judy moved into town in 2023 due to Tom’s health.

Over the last five years, Tom fought a brave battle with cancer. Tom taught us all how to be resilient and face hardships with no fear and lots of perseverance. His motto was always, “It is what it is, now what do we do about it.”  Tom didn’t lose the battle to cancer, he just retired.

Tom is leaving behind his wife Judy of 34 years, seven children, and eleven grandchildren: Tyler, Keisha, Adam, Kari, Ethan, Ali, Clayten, Michael, Jaxon, Milo, and Annabelle. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, Jim and Fran McIntire and father-in-law Mitchell Piekarz.  Tom made the world a better place with every beat! ROCK ON TOM!
