NIACC to Break Ground on Hampton Career Academy Tuesday (07.08)

North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) opened its first “satellite” Career Academy in Forest City in Fall 2021.
NIACC’s Charles City Career Academy opened last August, in partnership with the Charles City, Clarksville, Nashua-Plainfield, North Butler, Osage, Riceville, and Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock school districts.
Tuesday (07.08) at 1 pm, NIACC will host groundbreaking ceremonies for its third career academy in Hampton, serving students including those in the Belmond-Klemme, Hampton-Dumont, and West Fork school districts.
President Joel Pedersen says it’s all about bringing NIACC’s closer to high school students in north Iowa.
Pedersen says there’s a huge need for students with two-year degrees and/or certificates from schools like NIACC.
The $4 million Career Academy in Hampton is funded in part by a $3 million grant from the Federal Economic Development Administration. It’s set to open in Fall 2026 and will also be the new home of Franklin County Economic Development, which donated the land at 1276 Olive Avenue for the career academy.
