Charles City Public Library Director Annette Dean joins us on this week’s Community Conversations, presented by Floyd County Medical Center, to preview a variety of exciting programs happening this summer for kids, teens, and adults. From Messy Games and a town-wide creature scavenger hunt, to candy sushi for teens, craft nights, and even a visit from New York Times bestselling author William Kent Krueger, there’s something for everyone at the library in July and August. Dean also discusses reading programs, prize drawings, book clubs, and weekly activities like Tech Time and Scrabble & Board Game Club.

For full event calendars, program details, and sign-ups, visit the Charles City Public Library website at charles-city.lib.ia.us or follow them on Facebook for the latest updates.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
