strong wind gusts persisting into Wednesday morning. Wind gusts over
50 mph are expected. Much of the area has 6 inches or more of snow
on the ground. While there may be an initial crust on the top layer
of the snow, it will erode quickly leading to significant blowing and
drifting of snow. Near white-out and blizzard conditions may occur.

* WHAT...Blizzard conditions possible. Light snow and snow showers
are possible. Winds gusts over 50 mph are expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central, north central, northeast, northwest,
and west central Iowa.

* WHEN...From late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous. Whiteout conditions are
possible and may make travel treacherous and potentially nearly
impossible and life-threatening. The hazardous conditions could
impact the Wednesday morning commute. Gusty winds could bring down
tree branches.

Goodwill Industries Brings Donation Trailer to Charles City Friday (08.01), Saturday (08.02)

If you can’t sell it Friday (08.01) and/or Saturday (08.02) in Charles City, consider donating it.

For the first time ever, Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa is making a donation trailer available in the parking lot along Clark Street in front of Hy-Vee in Charles City, in conjunction with the Citywide Garage Sales Friday and Saturday. If you have items left over after your sale, consider donating them to Goodwill.

Andy Mauer, Goodwill vice-president of marketing, says your donations support job training and programs that help people with disabilities in Northeast Iowa live more independently. Plus, it helps protect the planet by keeping reusable items out of local landfills.

The trailer will be open for donations in Charles City this weekend only.
