The Charles City Mobile Food Pantry is gearing up for another first-Wednesday-of-the-month distribution of food at the Floyd County Fairgrounds.
Organizer Jen Burton says the drive-thru distribution, from 5 to 6 pm Wednesday (08.06) evening at the Youth Enrichment Center, is helping hundreds of households in and around Charles City.
In addition to the regular food, the Charles City Mobile Food Pantry has been participating in the Healthy Kids Iowa program, providing extra food for any and all kids in a household ages four-to-18 who qualify.
Burton notes that the Healthy Kids distribution, which ends in August, has meant adjusting their methods of operation.
In July, 216 children received a Healthy Kids Iowa food kit through the Charles City Mobile Food Pantry.
