The Alta Vista Fire Department is “firing up” a celebration this weekend in honor of its 100th Anniversary.
Firefighter Ashley Laures says festivities will begin with a fire truck parade at 1 pm Saturday (08.09) afternoon, with several area fire departments to be represented.
Laures says proceeds from the event will go towards a new-to-them fire truck.
While they wait on their future fire truck purchase, Laures says some of the department’s firefighting tools of the past 100 years will be featured this weekend.
Laures says the cart, along with lots of pictures and memorabilia will also be on display at the Alta Vista VFW on Saturday. Other events include bounce houses, kids’ Dalmatian Activity, waterball fights, a bean bag tournament, and the street dance from 8 pm to midnight Saturday night.
