Cresco Police Seek Public’s Help in Cracking Down on Criminal Activity
The Cresco Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in their investigation of ongoing criminal activity.
A public safety announcement on the CPD Facebook page says they are currently investigating a series of thefts and residential burglaries occurring primarily on the East side of Cresco, including along 1st Avenue East, 2nd Avenue East, 4th Avenue East, and 5th Street East.
In recent weeks, officers have responded to multiple reports of stolen lawn equipment (including a Stihl weed eater and Husqvarna push mower); burglaries involving forced entry; and early morning home intrusions, where residents have reported seeing unknown individuals inside their homes during the overnight hours.
CPD says these incidents are believed to have occurred between 1:30 AM and 3:00 AM, with suspects fleeing when confronted. While no injuries have been reported, they are taking these events seriously and increasing patrols in the affected neighborhoods.
CPD is asking Cresco residents to secure sheds, garages, and homes —especially during evening and overnight hours and to heck security cameras or doorbell footage for any suspicious activity (particularly from July 7 to August 6). Report any unusual activity or unknown individuals lingering in your neighborhood—no matter how minor it may seem.
They add: “Your vigilance and cooperation are crucial in helping us keep Cresco safe. Thank you for your continued support.”
If you have any information related to these crimes, please contact the Cresco Police Department at (563) 547-2424. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
