The New Hampton Public Library is hosting a School Bus Safety event Wednesday (08.13) morning at 10 am.
Library Director Carrie Becker says it will be especially helpful for students riding a school bus for the first time.
Becker adds there will also be giveaways of backpacks with school supplies and each child gets a book to take home.
Becker says this is the final event in a series of safety-related experiences for kids that included previous visits this summer by the New Hampton police and fire departments as well as the Chickasaw County ambulance.
She says the campaign was paid for by a CPPC grant, which also included giveaways of board games, all with a goal of keeping kids safe.
