City Hall, Police Department Renovations Impact Charles City Public Library, Too

Renovations to City Hall and the police department in Charles City continue to push forward, despite the occasional challenges.
That’s Mayor Dean Andrews, who says they’ve anticipated unplanned expenses during the makeover, with a projected price tag around $4.5 million.
While most of the work centers on the City Hall/Police building itself, there are also upgrades that will impact the Charles City Public Library.
That’s Library Director Annette Dean, who says she was able to provide input for the redesign of the Ped Mall, which will also include new landscaping for the reader’s nook and removal of dead ash trees.
Dean adds they’ll be happy when the construction ends, because that also means the end of the library shaking on occasion.
Completion of the City Hall/PD makeover is targeted for sometime in Spring 2026.
