Lions Field Pool Closes for the Season Sunday (08.17), No Paws Dog Swim

The Lions Field Pool in Charles City will close for the season this Sunday (08.17), but unlike previous years, there will be no Paws Humane Society Dog Swim after the shutdown.
The City has spent upwards of $800,000 to fix up the pool, including a new filter system which can not bypass dog hair as in the past.
That’s Paws Assistant Director Jacie Peichel, who adds that the dog swims were largely play time for the canines.
In addition to mechanical fixes and upgrades, work was also done to shore up the pool shell itself. City officials say the makeover will extend the life of the pool, already about 30 years old, by another 25 years.
A new rock climbing wall was also added.
