Closed Since End of July, McIntosh Woods State Park Reopens Friday (08.22)

A north Iowa state park has re-opened after officials were forced to close the park almost a month ago when it was ravaged by severe weather.
A July 29th derecho storm caused significant tree damage at McIntosh Woods State Park near Ventura. The campground, boat ramp and fish cleaning station are all open for public use starting Friday (08.22).
The Iowa DNR says park staff note that while the roads are clear and passable, large piles of tree debris will be addressed in a second phase of clean-up. Additionally, visitors are asked to avoid areas of bare soil where trees were uprooted as grass is being re-established.
