Lack of Candidates Forces Floyd County to Go Interim Route for Assistant County Attorney

Longtime Floyd County Assistant County Attorney Randy Tilton was going to retire July 1st. However, he will stay on until October 1st because his replacement has yet to be found. At least not a permanent one.
During Tuesday’s (08.26) Board Supervisors meeting, County Attorney Todd Prichard said months of recruiting efforts have been unfruitful.
Prichard said Floyd County is not alone in its hiring struggles, citing Chickasaw County, among others.
Prichard proposed an interim solution by having part-time Butler County Attorney David Kuehner fill Tilton’s role while they continue their search.
Supervisor Gloria Carr expressed concerns over the arrangement.
Board Chair Boyd Campbell cited similar challenges when the County was hiring a new county engineer earlier this year.
While it was not an action item on their agenda, Supervisors agreed they had no choice but to go the interim assistant county attorney route for the time being.
Prichard noted that Kuehner previously filled in as County Attorney in Hardin County for two years and was an assistant county attorney in Floyd County years ago.
