Waverly Police Arrest Dysart Man Following Assault Report

A Dysart man was arrested Tuesday after Waverly Police responded to an assault call at a local residence.

According to Waverly Police, officers were called to the residence on September 9, 2025, where the offender had fled the scene on a motorcycle. Officers later located the suspect, 52-year-old David Michael Risse of Dysart, at a nearby convenience store.

Risse was arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Inflict Serious Injury, an aggravated misdemeanor, along with Possession of Marijuana, an enhanced aggravated misdemeanor. He was transported to the Bremer County Jail and later released after posting a $4,300 bond.

Police say the victim of the assault was transported by ambulance to Waverly Health Center for treatment of injuries.

Authorities remind the public that all parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
