Charles City Fire Chief Sam Deverell: Fire Prevention Week Brings Safety Lessons to Schools and a Pancake Breakfast

Charles City Fire Chief Sam Deverell is spotlighting Fire Prevention Week, October 5–11, 2025, with safety lessons in local schools and preschools, while also stressing the importance of lithium-ion battery safety in homes. In a wide-ranging conversation, Deverell talked about department upgrades, firefighter training, seasonal fire safety reminders, and wrapped it all with an invitation to the annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, October 12, starting at 8 a.m. at the fire station.
