Authorities Recover Body in Northeast Iowa Lake

Authorities have recovered a body from a northeast Iowa lake.
Guttenberg Police Chief Derek Chambers says he located a flat bottom boat adrift without any occupants, just north of the Bussey Lake boat ramp in Guttenberg, shortly before noon Wednesday (10.01). After a brief investigation at the boat ramp and speaking with witnesses, it was determined there was a male subject in the water, but they were unable to initially locate the man.
The Guttenberg Fire Department began search efforts, looking for a male who possibly drowned. They were assisted by the Iowa DNR utilizing their sonar technology. At approximately 3:45 pm Wednesday, a 79-year-old male from Cedar Rapids was located deceased in the water.
The victim’s name is currently being withheld pending notification of family.
The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation, Clayton County Medical Examiner, and Morris Funeral Homes also assisted with the incident.
