Charles City Lions Club 63rd Annual Book Sale Returns with Thousands of Books to Benefit Community Projects

Mike Lidd from the Charles City Lions Club joined Community Conversations to talk about the return of the club’s 63rd Annual Book Sale. This year’s event runs over two weeks at the warehouse across from Dollar General on Hulen Street in Charles City.

  • Oct. 8–10 (Wed–Fri): 9 AM – 7 PM
  • Oct. 11 (Sat): 9 AM – 4 PM
  • Oct. 15–17 (Wed–Fri): 11 AM – 7 PM
  • Oct. 18 (Sat): 9 AM – 12 PM

Shoppers can browse thousands of books across every genre — from cookbooks and biographies to westerns, history, and children’s titles — with prices starting at just 50¢. All proceeds go back into community projects, including scholarships, park improvements, and sight and hearing initiatives.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
