Community Meetings in Floyd, Colwell on $30 Million Bond for Charles City High School

Supporters of a $30 million bond referendum to pay for renovations, upgrades and improvements to Charles City High School have a busy week ahead in efforts to educate voters on the measure.
The Future Forward CC Bond 2025 Committee will host Community Information sessions from 7 to 8 pm Monday (10.20) at the Floyd Community Center and from 7 to 8 pm Tuesday (10.21) at the Colwell Community Center. Wednesday (10.22) night’s 6:30 pm meeting at the High School will feature representatives of FEH Design, the engineering consultants for the proposed makeover of the building built over 65 years ago.
During last week’s Charles City School Board meeting, a handful of current CCHS students stated their cases for passage of the bond referendum. Vivian Soifer talked of aging facilities.
Fiona Pittman spoke of issues that recently impacted the student-run Comet Cafe.
And there are unpleasant smells that can come with un-air-conditioned classrooms.
Passage of the bond on November 4th requires a 60% supermajority YES vote.
