Jeff Sisson and Floyd County Museum Director McKenna Lloyd joined us on this week’s Community Conversations to talk about the brand-new Charles City Heritage Assembly — a quarterly gathering that invites residents to bring, share, and interpret local history together. The informal meetups are designed as a “historic show-and-tell,” encouraging community members of all ages to share artifacts, photographs, and stories that highlight Charles City’s rich heritage. The first assembly takes place Wednesday, October 23, from 4–6 p.m. at the Floyd County Museum. It’s an open, come-and-go event held in partnership with the Charles City Historic Preservation Commission.

For more information on the Charles City Heritage Assembly and future events, visit the Floyd County Museum Facebook page or stop by the museum in Charles City.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
