Sponsored by Cambrex in Charles City

Charles City Middle School hosted its 2025 Veterans Day Program Tuesday morning, an event aired live on Fab Oldies 1580 AM/103.3 FM and streamed on KCHAnews.com. Coverage on both platforms was brought to you by Cambrex. With more than 375 employees, Cambrex offers a wide range of career opportunities at cambrex.com.

FFA officers Bryce Walker and Aubrey Michael led the ceremony, which featured the Presentation and Retiring of the Colors by the Charles City FFA, the Pledge of Allegiance by the American Legion Junior Auxiliary, and musical performances from the Jazz Choirs, CCHS Chorus, and CCHS Symphonic Band.

Pastor Matt Howlett delivered the invocation and closing reflection. Charles City Mayor Dean Andrews offered remarks, and Master Sergeant Jeremy Baugh, U.S. Army Green Beret, served as the keynote speaker. Students also performed “Armed Forces on Parade,” “In Flanders Fields,” and “War Songs in American History.”

A moment of silence and the playing of “Taps” by the CCHS Band honored all veterans.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
